Error & Needs Modernization

January issue shows Error and cant download, App support says contact Apple and doesnt provide a contact section (I know how to find that, and will, but for the money on a subscription, this app needs improvements so I will comment here anyway). For an iPad app from such a notable magazine I would very much like to see a more stylish and friendly app of Zine or Flipboard design, and certainly support for portrait mode! Please update this app with the improvements that a magazine as quality as National Geographic deserves, thanks!

Loses Spot

If youre trying to use the app on your phone while doing anything else, switching to another app will cause the app to go back to the top of the page you are reading causing you to lose your spot.

please fix

i love nat geo but this app is a mess; why does the article have to reload everytime i leave the app??

Landscape only

This magazine only loads in landscape orientation. I wouldnt bother buying the digital edition, its a waste. I love Nat Geo, but having to hold my iPad in such a weird and awkward way, instead of the way we normally read is just silly. There NEEDS to be a way to switch to portrait. I plan on cancelling my subscription.

Awesome Content. BAD APP

Love the content. But the app is in terrible need of an update.

Fails to open...

Was working well but suddenly stopped opening. Reloading does not help.

Needs a Bookmark

The app is fine for an iPhone, but if you close then re-open, it loads at the top of the article and you have to scroll down to find where you left off. I would think a quality mag app as Nat Geo would have dealt with this long ago.

Bookmarks please

The experience would be far better if the article would open where I stopped reading it when I reopen the app.

November

Unable to view november issue. Very slow.

Great content, solid app, 1 complaint on iPad

The content of course is amazing. The app works fine. My major complaint is the quality of images on an iPad. They are not retina resolution sometimes and you can see the artifacts. I would gladly download 500mb or higher versions of issues, instead of 180mb, if I had the option. I really care about image quality, but do not want to tend to printed magazines. So, higher quality images to match our devices and get closer to print would be great. Note that some other publications use larger download sizes and achieve higher quality images it seems.

Please update

No matter how short the trip was, the app will not remember where I left off and will begin from the top. This is really frustrating because during the course of reading an article, I often turn off my phone or go to main screen and then come back to the article multiple times, and I am forced to scroll down to where I left off. I would rather use safari or use my laptop, but both of them require so much more effort. (In fact I dont even think this is possible) Another bothering thing is that when I highlight a word, national geographic will not allow me to define the word. Now I know that this is related to article copying and pasting problem and I understand why NG made this decision, but to a person like me whose first language is not English, this ruins my experience of reading the article so that I will not understand what its trying to say and get bored, causing me to not read the journal some point. If there is a way to add that option, I would love it and would rate this app 5 star for sure.

Superb content - shoddy app

1. No bookmarking feature 2. No "share" feature (I understand NatGeo doesnt want me "sharing" an entire issue, so how about they place a monthly limit on the amount of bytes I can share). NatGeo, I promise, you will gain more subscribers if u let the current subscribers to essentially advertise for you! 3. The app doesnt keep track of where you left off. Coupled with no bookmarking, this means that even if you go away for 10 secs to send a txt, the app will bring you back to the very beginning. 4. The whole interface is weird and not intuitive. 5. The "library" feature should show the issues that the subscribers actually downloaded to their device. Instead, you get a list of ALL the issues available for download. So if you had downloaded a December 2013 and June 2015, and July 2016 issues, you will have to scroll down though all those years in order to find whats actually on your device.

Still Disappointed

While NGM has been around for a century, its digital app is still behind the times; it is sorely lacking in accessibility. The fonts are not dynamics c, cannot be enlarge, theres no voice over. I use to be a long time subscriber. Sadly, because of my slow progressive eyesight loss, I can no longer enjoy this magazine. I continue to be disappointed, while the rest of the apps like the NYTimes offer dynamic fonts, Im sure an even larger population of readers. When will the NGM catch up

Great app, but no bookmarks

This app is fantastic and I would have rated it 5/5 if it werent for the lack of bookmarking functionality in articles. Every time you leave an article and go back to pick up where you left off, it takes you back to the beginning of the article. This is very frustrating if you try to read an article but dont finish it and want to go back to the spot where you left off. Please correct this for the next update!

Great magazine, frustrating app even on iPad

The app only allows download of 5 issues at once, no more. So you cannot easily download ahead to prepare for being somewhere without Internet. And forget about looking back to articles you liked in older issues unless you want redownload and lose access to newer issues. Even more irritating is that once you start downloading an issue it automatically opens and begins the animation and music. So setting up a queue of downloads feels like battling a barrage of uncontrollable popup ads from a link you clicked on by accident.

Useless

I subscribed to natgeo, downloaded the app, was NEVER able to read ANY magazine. Asked for a refund, erased this useless app.

No longer works

Ive been reading my print editions for a while. I decided to use the digital version today since Ill be going out and nothing loads on my iPad. No library. NOTHING.

Cant delete off ipad

I updated the app and it has created an icon/app that I can not delete off of my ipad. Beware before you update to the latest version!!!

LATEST UPDATE WILL NOT INSTALL ON MY IPAD AIR!!!

This latest update will not install on my IPAD AIR (using IOS 9.3.5). When will this serious flaw be fixed?

Cant access subscription

I cant access my subscription in the updated app. Subscribed through Apple years ago. First time Ive been unable to restore my subscription and access past purchases. Please fix.
