Really bummed it doesnt work on my computer
As always, the content provided by the people at Nat Geo is fantastic. However, the app is not as great. First off, photos are not expandable. Secondly, my place is never saved when I read an article and leave the app halfway. I have learned to avoid closing the app for this reason, but its still an issue because the same thing happens when I receive calls of any sort.
It does not even let me download my issues! FIX IT!!!!
Login doesnt work, even though I carefully followed the online steps to create an account and received email confirmation indicating to download this app and log in. I wonder who came up with the idea to label this as an "essential" app...
Cant open it. Cant delete it. Very disappointing. Nat Geo: fire your app developer.
I got access to this app after buying a subscription through Apple News. The Apple News experience is much better. First, the app needs to be updated to support the 12.9" iPad Pro. It looks terrible. Part of this would be to permit portrait use my iPad screen is larger than a physical copy of National Geographic magazine. Second, it is odd that digital subscriptions dont seem to give you access to the archives. Update: The terrible app and lack of access to back issues within the app ended up being deal breakers, and I canceled my subscription.
At first I was skeptical of all the one stars. Then I tried syncing my subscription—no luck. Then when I started reading on my iPhone, the articles didnt keep my place. Long reads reset to the top EVERY time I switched the app. The app is not usable. Fingers crossed for an update!
The app description includes family sharing. It does not have family sharing.
I am a magazine subscriber it will not let me log in with the credentials I created on the NG website. Then when I try to use the link for magazine subscribers it wont do anything. This app needs serious work.
I forgot about the promo subscription last July but then I got membership card in my actual, physical, mail box this month(Nov). Reset the password and tried to log in but it keeps saying Authentication Failed. Went to support page stating those I mentioned above and selecting "iPad" with scroll down menu, the person responded to me asked the exact questions I just gave them the answer to in the first place (Whats the error message and what type of tablet am I using)
I cant sign in and I cant get anyone in tech support to help me or answer any questions. They happily took my $19.99 almost a year ago and I havent been able to use it all. I think I should get a refund.
Just subscribed on the website, created a username and password, followed all other instructions. Cant log in. Poor execution of what would otherwise be great content.
This app is phenomenally terrible. The only thing good about this app is the aesthetics and layout. Unfortunately the positives end there. I am in shock that National Geographic has such an awful app because they have a great website and have always been a brand of quality through my eyes. I have been a subscriber for at least over a month for both hard and digital copies. However, when I sign into this app with my account, it does not recognize me as a subscriber. Therefore, I am not able to view the digital content that I am paying for. I have e-mailed customer service and they provide terrible responses (login with your username and password by clicking the settings icon - this is sent to me immediately after I just told them that I have logged in/out, reinstalled the app, and sent pictures of it all!!!). I STRONGLY recommend they fire or discontinue their contract with whomever developed this app and seek business with people who make things work. Very disappointed with this app as it is entirely useless to paying subscribers.
This app lacks the most basic feature you would expect from a digital magazine. There is no way to pinch-zoom on pages either to increase the text size which is too small (main articles on iPad and side sections on all devices) or to see the pictures/graphics more clearly Take the July issue of food trucks. 16 seemingly good pictures combined on 1 page - practically useless on an iPhone screen Text annoyingly reverts to beginning of article and smallest size each time you switch to another app- Text size reverts to small when you swipe to next article within app these settings should be remembered! All of these suggestions should be an easy fix!
Whats with the photos of each article being so tiny?! The reason I subscribe to the digital version and to the magazine is because its known not only for its articles but for the amazing photos! I have an iPhone 6plus and not only can I not zoom into photos they come up so small when you view each articles photos! Please Update this! Pleaseee!
Please add function to allow portrait display
Getting into the app through Newsstand is a breeze. Navigating between and within issues takes a little getting used to. Once learned I am enjoying the experience. The downgrade is due to the inability to exit from the app. When I close the app, it takes me to the Newsstand, where I am forced to stay (I cant get back to the phone features). The only way I found to get out of it is by cycling the power.
All other magazines have vertical viewing which makes this really annoying
I have an 6+ and this app does NOT even work on it. Can read articles because the pages dont turn and constantly freezes. I want my $20.00 back!!
Dude. Nat Geos classic portrait mode is absent from this app. I refuse to read a magazine in landscape. Its like Im playing a video game. Im waiting to subscribe until they fix it. P.S. Why not let people resize text while youre at it?
